🇨🇦 Canada officially switched to EST (Eastern Standard Time)
Share
On the morning of Sunday, November 2, 2025, all provinces in Canada's Eastern Time zone (such as Ontario, Quebec...) switched from Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) to Eastern Standard Time (EST), which means turning the clocks back 1 hour.
🕰 Why does Canada change time?
This change is part of the Daylight Saving Time (DST) regulation.
Every year, in the spring, the clocks are turned forward one hour to allow for more sunlight in the evening, helping to save electricity.
In the fall, clocks are moved back 1 hour to return to standard time, helping people live more in line with the natural sunrise and sunset times.
🔮 Special issues when reading Horoscopes for people born in Canada
This Summer and Winter time change directly affects the determination of a person's exact birth time - especially in Zi Wei Dou Shu or the Ba Zi (Four Pillars) systems.
For example:
- If a baby is born in Toronto at 1am on November 2, 2025, we have to determine whether this is before or after the time change.
- If born before 2:00 AM, still calculate according to Summer Time (EDT, UTC-4).
- If born after 2:00 AM, the clocks are back, so standard time (EST, UTC-5) must be used.
➡️ That means the same clock mark is 1 am, but in reality it is 1 hour different from the true solar time!
📌 Important note for parents abroad
If you send your child's birth time to Vietnam for Horoscope, you must clearly state whether the birth time is during Summer Time (EDT) or Winter Time (EST). Very few Horoscope masters in Vietnam know about this time change regulation of Western countries, so the chart can be wrong by up to an hour, leading to completely wrong Destiny, Body, or fate.
👉 Therefore, when providing information to the teacher, you should clearly state:
- City, country of birth
- Date, month, year, and time of birth according to the hospital clock
- Additional note: “Local time applies DST (Daylight Saving Time) if applicable”
